The thirteenth annual assembly of the Association of U.S. Catholic Priests is being held at the Hyatt Regency in Lexington, from June 24 through 27, 2024. Our host is Catholic Diocese of Lexington Bishop John Stowe, OFM Conv., who is leading assembly participants in a one-day retreat on June 24.

Ordained and lay members of the AUSCP, along with others who support the mission and values of the association, are welcome to attend the assembly. Keynote speakers include Father Michael Driscoll, Father Thomas Reese SJ, Dr. Kim Harris, and Sister Kathleen Storms, SSND. There will also be a showing of the documentary “Teilhard: Visionary Scientist,” concerning the life and work of Father Teilhard de Chardin SJ. For more information on the speakers, see below.

In addition to the hearing from the keynote speakers, attendees will participate in sessions on the contemplative process, receive updates from working groups, and have time for fellowship and prayer. The Assembly Mass will be celebrated at 4pm on Wednesday, June 26, at nearby Saint Peter Claver Church. After the Mass, there will be a banquet and presentation of the Saint John XXIII Awards to Archbishop John Wester and Sister Marge Eilerman, OSF.

Father Michael Driscoll’s writings on the liturgy have brought him into the area of social justice as the lived experience of faith flowing from the Eucharist, as seen in Sacraments and Justice (Liturgical Press, 2014).

Jesuit Father Thomas J. Reese is an American Catholic Jesuit priest, author, and journalist. He is a senior analyst at Religion News Service, a former columnist at National Catholic Reporter, and a former editor-in-chief of the weekly Catholic magazine America. His column for Religion News Service, “Signs of the Times,” appears regularly at National Catholic Reporter.

Dr. Kim Harris is a liturgist, composer and recording artist, a gifted cantor, leader of song and a passionate cultural advocate. She earned a PhD in worship and the arts from Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York. In fulfillment of her degree, she composed Welcome Table: A Mass of Spirituals, one of the complete Mass settings included in the Lead Me Guide Black Catholic hymnal second edition (GIA Publications Inc).

Sister Kathleen Storms, SSND, will guide assembly participants in their contemplative response to keynoters and assembly events.
