As deacons of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lexington we strive to be prayerful servants, ordained to participate in the mission of Jesus by building up, sustaining and ministering to the people of God. At the direction of the Bishop and with the support of our families and our communities, we give ourselves for service in the marketplace, in our neighborhoods, and in the local church. Through ordination we are called to be models of that service to which we are all called at baptism.
We strive to reflect Jesus’ love in our lives and in our ministries. We accept the challenge to be a positive force for justice and peace among the people of God.
As Deacons we dedicate ourselves to:
Hold a shared sense of our identity and mission.
Form a community of faith and mutual accountability.
Perform our works and ministries in a Gospel spirit of justice and compassion.
Be instruments of systemic change in our communities and the world.
Be the Church present in our workplace and our communities.
