A night united in faith with Andy Beshear

On March 5, nearly 1,000 people filled Historic Saint Paul Church for the UNITED in HOPE: Denouncing Political Violence Interfaith Encounter. The keynote speaker was Governor Andy Beshear.

Nearly 10 years ago the first UNITED Interfaith Encounter responded to the massacre at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando. Since then, the interfaith community has gathered 15 times for a UNITED Encounter or Dialogue to reflect, remember, be a sign of solidarity, and to renew resolve to serve the common good and each other.

Yesterday’s gathering brought together Christian, Jewish and Muslim faith leaders, government and community leaders, to promote hope among fellow sojourners who decry political violence – indeed, all violence – whether in action or in words.

Stan “JR” Zerkowski, Pastoral Associate at Historic Saint Paul Parish and founder of the Lexington UNITED Interfaith Encounters and Dialogues said, “We have become the community of the unexpected in a very divided world. I hope our example can bring hope and change our world.”
