Appeal Impact

Small, but Mighty

Thanks to your generosity through the Diocesan Annual Appeal, St. Gregory Catholic Church in Barbourville, KY continues to be a light in the Appalachian region — through community outreach, faith formation activities, and support to individuals and families in need.

Though small in size, St. Gregory’s impact is immense. Whether it’s through providing a welcoming space for worship, supporting local ministries, or offering comfort and hope to all who enter through the parish doors, this church is a vital part of the Barbourville community.

But none of this would be possible without operational support provided by the Diocesan Annual Appeal (DAA)

St. Gregory is one of 13 parishes throughout the Diocese of Lexington that depends on the DAA to sustain daily operations, grow outreach programs, and maintain a Catholic presence in rural and underserved areas.

Your gift to the Diocesan Annual Appeal ensures that parishes like St. Gregory continue to thrive. When you give, you’re not just supporting a church—you’re investing in hope, in faith, and in the future of our diocesan mission.

Together, we can ensure that the Church’s presence in Barbourville remains strong and vibrant for generations to come.

Serving many

In the hills of eastern Kentucky, where economic hardship touches many lives, a small but mighty team is making a difference—one food box at a time.

Each month in Cumberland, KY, Fr. Terrence de Silva and a group of dedicated volunteers open the doors of St. Stephen/Resurrection Food Pantry to serve nearly 300 families. These are our neighbors—parents, children, and seniors—who count on the pantry for nutritious food, a warm smile, and the assurance that they are not forgotten.

This vital outreach is possible because of generous participants like you.

The Diocesan Annual Appeal helps fund this mission, ensuring that families facing hunger in the mountains of Appalachia receive the care and compassion they deserve.

When you give to the Diocesan Annual Appeal, you become part of this life-giving work.

You help Fr. Terrence and his team continue to:

  • Provide food for children and families
  • Support seniors living on fixed incomes
  • Serve with dignity and respect—reflecting Christ’s love in every interaction

We invite you to join us today in sustaining and growing this powerful ministry.

Changing Lives: Expanding Reading Support for Students with Learning Differences at Seton Catholic School

At Seton Catholic School in Lexington, the Reading Intervention Program is changing lives. Through specialized one-on-one instruction using the Barton Reading and Spelling System, educator Erin Lennon helps students who struggle with reading, writing, and spelling due to dyslexia or other learning differences.

These students often come from across Lexington and beyond—seeking the care, patience, and personalized instruction that Erin and her team provide. Many face additional challenges like ADHD, autism, or Tourette’s Syndrome, yet with the right support, they’re discovering their confidence and finding success in the classroom.

This vital program receives support because of your generosity to the Diocesan Annual Appeal. Your gifts ensure that schools like Seton can continue offering these life-changing services to students who need them most.

But there’s more work to do. The need is growing, and resources are limited. Your support today will help expand access to these resources, train more teachers, and reach more children who deserve the chance to thrive.

Please take a moment to give now and make a direct difference in the lives of students with learning differences.

Together, we can make sure every child in our Catholic schools has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.

In the hills of Eastern Kentucky, faith and opportunity meet every day at the Piarist School—where your generosity turns classrooms into places of hope.

In the heart of Johnson County, the Piarist School stands as a beacon of hope—offering a tuition-free, quality Catholic education to students across six counties in Eastern Kentucky. For 39 years, the Piarist Fathers have faithfully served this community, ensuring that every child—regardless of circumstance—has access to the transformative power of faith and learning.

This year, through the Diocesan Annual Appeal, the Piarist School received support to expand its campus ministry program, the Calasanz Movement. Inspired by St. Joseph Calasanz, founder of the Piarist Fathers, this program helps students grow in faith, develop servant leadership skills, and live out the Piarist charism in their daily lives.

Your gift to the Diocesan Annual Appeal directly strengthens ministries like this one—programs that nurture faith, education, and hope across our diocese. When you give to the Appeal, you make it possible for the Piarist Fathers to continue their mission of forming young people who lead with compassion, integrity, and service.

Please join us in supporting the Diocesan Annual Appeal today, and help more ministries continue shaping the hearts and minds of the next generation.

COllege can challenge a young person’s faith—but your One In Christ gift helps EKU students

Every Sunday, 60–70 EKU students gather for Mass at the Catholic Campus Ministry of St. Mark. After Mass, Campus Minister Alanna Sininger welcomes students to share a home‑cooked meal around tables of fellowship and faith, with Bible studies, prayer, and one‑on‑one spiritual support continuing throughout the week as students navigate life’s questions and discover their identity in Christ.

These students are the future of our Church—future parents, teachers, priests, parish leaders, and missionary disciples. Your gift to One In Christ helps keep this community not only alive, but growing—so students experience the Eucharist, authentic friendship, and the steady presence  of the Church during a pivotal time in their lives

Thank you for standing with our students and strengthening the future of our Church—one young heart at a time.

Please make your gift today to help students become the hands and feet of Christ across central and eastern Kentucky.
