An Authentically Catholic Approach to Leadership
Many of us think of leaders as the ones who gets to be in charge and tell everyone else what to do. However, Christ demonstrates that a true leader is one who first and foremost serves.
The Servant Leadership Institute is a week-long camp for current High School students (sophomores through seniors) that aims to model and teach servant leadership as an authentically Catholic approach to leadership. Our goal is to prepare the young people of our Church to take on roles of leadership, through service, in the parish and beyond.
This will be a week of prayer and devotion, learning and growth, daily service in and around Harlan, and (of course) plenty of time to get away and have fun.

The Servant Leadership Institute is not like other camps or retreats, a lot is being asked of the young people participating and more will be expected of them when they return home. Which is why it's so important that the parish "sends" youth participants: because this is not just another summer camp.
Therefore, in order to register for the Servant Leadership Institute, the first step is to fill out the online form found here: SLI Registration Form
However, in order to complete their registration, every participant must ask for their pastor to send a letter of introduction to Michael Armstrong, the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry for the diocese. In this letter, they should introduce the young person, sharing what gifts and potential they see in them, and how they might utilize that young person's leadership in the parish after they've completed the Servant Leadership Institute.
