Celebrating the Mass of Remembrance

Cemetery Mass

Bishop John Stowe OFM Conv. celebrated a Mass of Remembrance for Those Who Have Died at Lexington’s Calvary Cemetery on Sunday November 5. Dozens of people joined the Bishop in praying for family and friends who are buried at Calvary.

This Mass also kicked off the Celebration of the 150th Anniversary of Calvary Cemetery. Other events are planned to welcome the Calvary family, and showcase a series of groundskeeping and other improvements being made at the cemetery.

Near the end of Mass, during the chanting of the Litany of Saints, Bishop John and Deacon Steve Hester processed through a portion of the cemetery grounds, blessing the graves. Afterwards, there was a brief reception with delicious apple cider and anniversary cookies.

Special thanks to Gabrielle Manion Wrightson for leading the music, and to Leo Brown.
