Meet our Priest

The Rev. Fr. Livinus C. Uba was ordained to the Catholic priesthood on July 2, 1994. Originally from Nnewi diocese of Nigeria, and currently serves as Pastor of St. Jude Catholic Church in Louisa, Kentucky, and the Sacramental Administrator and Chaplain to the Father Beiting Appalachian Mission Center. He is also a Volunteer Catholic Chaplain at the Federal Correctional Institution in Ashland (Summit), Kentucky.
Fr. Uba has held significant leadership roles in addiction counseling, including serving as Vice-Chair of the Kentucky Board of Alcohol and Drug Counselors and as the Commonwealth of Kentucky’s representative to the International Certification & Reciprocity Consortium (IC&RC). He is a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor and Certified Clinical Supervisor in Kentucky, a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor with Clinical Supervision Endorsement in Ohio, and an Alcohol and Drug Counselor and Clinical Supervisor in West Virginia.
He is a Trainer with the National Zero Suicide Center and a certified trainer in Assessing and Managing Suicide Risk (AMSR). His professional credentials include Substance Abuse Professional (SAP), Master Addiction Counselor (MAC), National Certified Counselor (NCC), and Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPCA).
Fr. Uba’s research interests include meaning in life, self-forgiveness, and locus of control. His scholarly work spans Theology and Philosophy, Sociology and Social Policy, Global Politics and International Relations, and Mental Health Counseling. In addition to his pastoral ministry, he is a retreat preacher, advocate, educator, and clinician. His ministry is viewed as a vacation to serve. He earned his Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Kentucky, where he also serves as an Adjunct Professor in the School of Professional Counseling.
