The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is offered is offered at St. Peter Claver to those adults from another faith that have the desire to become Catholic, to children at the age of reason (7 years of age) that have not been Baptized, to adults that have not been Baptized in any Faith, and to Baptized Catholics that have not received the Sacrament of Confirmation.
RCIA Classes are offered each year in accordance with the CCD Program schedule, beginning in August with Orientation and Registration through their Initiation at Easter Vigil. Classes are held each Sunday from 8:45am to 9:50am.
The goal of the St. Peter Claver RCIA Program is to prepare Candidates to receive the Sacraments of Initiation at Easter Vigil, and to provide quality instruction based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church which includes the study of the Nicene Creed, the three Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist), as well as the study of the Order of the Mass, etc. The instructor for the St. Peter Claver RCIA Program is Nita Clarke, Director of Religious Education.
