Following is some information on the Parish Council as well as other various ministries to help you decide in what area you might be interested in volunteering. You may also contact the church office and speak to Fr. Paul, Sr. Rosemary or Nancy who will be happy to answer any questions your might have.
PARISH COUNCIL - The purpose of the parish council is to carry out the mission of the parish through determining needs, establishing priorities and setting policies. This includes overseeing the spiritual, educational, financial and physical assets. The council encourages and facilitates communication and mutual assistance in working with the various parish groups.
FORMATION: Oversees religious education, adult education, youth activities, and RCIA.
NEWMAN CENTER: Provides a place where Catholic students meet each other, share values, and find support for common beliefs. Our parishioners support the Newman Center by providing Tuesday evening meals for the students.
SPIRITUAL LIFE/LITURGY: Plans spiritual activities for the parish throughout the year. Responsible for liturgical celebrations of the parish.
PARISH LIFE - SOCIAL: Plans social events throughout the year.
SOCIAL CONCERNS: Promotes social action relationships and service activities with the larger community.
MAINTENANCE: Focuses attention on the upkeep of the buildings and grounds. Hands-on functioning committee—no meetings! Gardening/Flowers – Help with gardening around church building (commitment of approximately 30 minutes per week to keep flower beds trimmed, weeded, and watered throughout Spring and Summer).
FINANCE COUNCIL: Charged with the task of overseeing budget and spending.
RCIA: Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, adults receive instruction in the fundamentals of the Catholic Faith.
AD HOC COMMITTEES:
LEGACY: Established during the 50th Anniversary celebration year, the Legacy Committee remains committed to building our parish’s history of initiating needed social service ministries.
ARTS & ENVIRONMENT: Focuses on the physical environment of the church including art and architecture.
OTHER SERVICE MINISTRIES/ACTIVITIES:
Parish Book Club – Meets approximately every six weeks to discuss a book chosen by the members.
Hispanic Ministry - Focuses on the needs of the Hispanic community of the parish.
Food Committee - Coordinates volunteers in providing food for after Mass refreshments, funeral receptions, the sick and others in need.
Launder Church Linens – Washing small cloths used with the Chalice and other items.
Peoples’ Clinic Lunches – Our parish prepares and delivers lunch (often with a partner) to the workers at the free clinic on Tuesdays during December and June.
