Those in attendance were Ron Wedding (Chair) Jill Heink (minutes, articles), John Mitchell (LED), Joe Groves (website), Jenny Poole (newsletter), Pat Johnson (library), John Tibe (new member, Pastoral Council rep).
The meeting opened at 7:01 PM with a prayer. Fr. Dan has asked that all committees use the designated prayer for the month. Jill will include the meeting prayer for the month (found on the MQ website) on the agenda for next month.
There were no corrections to the minutes from August.
Website/Social Media – Joe reported that the website committee would meet on Oct. 27. The committee will review how many homilies should stay on the website. The Facebook page is doing well, with many positive responses and no negative incidents. Fr. Dan has asked that people read and reflect upon the Readings in advanced of Sunday Mass, so we will post a link to the upcoming Readings on the FB page. We have not started a Twitter feed as of yet.
Library – The copy of “Rebuilt” has been checked out and checked in a few times. The problem shelf fell again, but Bob Johnson fixed it. Pat has ordered additional Care Notes that deal with the topic of coping with grief during the holiday season. Two lost books were returned to the library. Pat continues to clean up her Excel spreadsheet and send out overdue notices.
Suggestion Box – no suggestions this month.
CD Rack – Since Melissa Sloan is taking care of the CD Rack, Jill added her to the e-mail list. The address Jill has is an “insight,” so Melissa is probably in the process of changing it and didn’t see the message. Jill will keep trying to contact Melissa.
Info Center/Bulletin Board - Everything is current on the Bulletin Board. The Info Center appears to be neat and tidy.
Newsletter – Look for lots of festival photos in the upcoming newsletter. Ron and Pat commented that they appreciated having the recipe section back. Jenny had taken some recipes from the MQ cookbook. Ron suggested that a recipe request could be put on FaceBook. The next newsletter deadline is Friday, Nov 8, for the Nov. 23-24 publication.
LED Screen and A/V –Tony Kernan replaced the LED monitor and is now troubleshooting the sound. The board looks much better.
Outdoor Sign – board updates continue to go well.
Bulletin – No report
Old/New Business – Jill attended the “Rebuilt” discussion on Oct. 9 and shared her observations. Of the 15 or so people at the discussion, most people really liked the book, some people expressed interest with some reservations, and one person did not like the book at all. Some of the most discussed aspects of the book included how can MQ be more welcoming, especially since it’s so big; how can MQ encourage more faith sharing and friendships among parishioners; can we be “fed” more effectively with liturgy, preaching and music?
Next Meeting The next meeting is set for November 18, 2013, 7 PM.
