After a lot of prayer and consultation both within and outside of the parish. I have decided that Mary Queen will add a 9:30am Sunday Mass in Spanish to its regular schedule, beginning on September 7. This was announced at the 1pm Mass yesterday, as the beginning of our efforts to motivate our Spanish speaking parishioners to reach out to their fellows who don't come to church and bring them in.
As I listened and consulted, I was so impressed by the open mindedness, and the putting the importance of evangelizing the inactive or only partially active Spanish speaking Catholics (in our parish boundaries and beyond) above our personal convenience and the convenience (not the essence) of the Sunday morning Formation program. This has been an inspiration to me.
This addition of this Mass, when and where it is, will occasion some creative changes in our Sunday morning Formation program, both in where some events happen and beyond. It will be a mess at times, just like Pope Francis said it would be. Let's continue to help each other and support each other in these changes.
