In Attendance: John Mitchell, Reno Sartori, Joe Osteen, Ginger Osteen, Becky Estep, Stephanie Beeken, Laura Hack
1. The meeting was called to order at 7:00pm and the opening prayer included "Open My Eyes Lord".
2. Fr. Jeffrey blessed the crucifix pins. It was decided that we should have a prayer card to give the recipient of the pin, first to explain the significance of the pin, and secondly, include the Evangelization Prayer on the card.
3. John Mitchell made sure that everyone was in agreement with April's minutes. Reno did not receive the copies that were mailed to his home. Laura asked that everyone please check the minutes when they are first distributed so that changes can be made immediately.
4. MQ School graduates were sent congratulations cards and Lex Cath graduating seniors will be sent the same when Lex Cath sends the complete list. Kabby Akers has asked for us to try to mention the 'care package' ministry on the inside of the card.
5. John presented his idea for promoting the license plates and the group worked through wording issues. We believe we have a final product, and again, the Evangelization Prayer will be printed on the back. We will be distributing the half-sheet flyers at the Fortnight For Freedom event at MQ on June 21st, as well as after some of the Masses. It was suggested that either our Youth or our Girl or Boy Scouts passing the flyers out after Mass could be more effective.
6. On Thursday, May 31st, the Paulist Evangelization Ministries will present a free webinar called, "Forming Teams for the New Evangelization." The webinar begins at 3pm EDT, and participants must pre-register. Members without internet access may participate in the session in Laura's office that day.
7. Reno reiterated how vitally important it is that our parish, and us as a committee, make prayer an essential element in learning about and leading our parish in evangelization. It was suggested that a commitment to prayer could be helpful and that the committee sharing a holy hour each week during MQ's Exposition and Adoration would be an outward sign of that commitment. The item was table for more thought.
8. Our next scheduled meeting would normally be June 21st, but it conflicts with MQ's Fortnight for Freedom event. Before re-scheduling the meeting, John is going to contact some other members to see if the Evangelization Committee should delay meeting again until August. Some members have mentioned conflicts with vacation plans. John will contact us soon with the feedback.
9. The meeting was closed at 8:30 using the closing prayer for the evening's vespers.
