Continuing Education:
We, with Fr. Dan, are responsible for fostering good worship at Mary Queen by
“Establishing short and long range goals for the liturgical life of MQ”
Planning and preparing Eucharistic liturgies and other celebrations
Establishing parish policies concerning various rites and liturgical questions
Scheduling and training liturgical ministers
Providing ongoing liturgical formation of committee members and parishioners in order to promote full, conscious and active participation of the faithful
Evaluating on a regulate basis all of the above
Old Business:
Worship committee objectives for 2014 extend from the above responsibilities
Goals for this committee should feed off Parish goals.
Embolden the environment with additions such as more statues, pictures, icons, ect. Possibly locate such items from churches closing at other locations. SUGGESTION: Lisa & Lisa will look for opportunities.
Comments: Large number of public school children under poverty level. Perhaps we could partner with a school to provide support of some type, evangelizing while we do that. SUGGESTION: No action
Comment: Jena noted that activities at the cathedral included MIB Lenten mission. Suggested that we consider a mission at MQ for lent next year, to change the focus toward all the parish as a whole vs small group. SUGGESTION: Bernie and Christy to brainstorm an idea for a speaker(s) for the parish, in the fall.
Review of Ash Wednesday Services: services packed, as big as Sunday! 5:30 am had more than even 4pm Mass. Noted that there were no stations at back of church.
SUGGESTION: Next year add ashes station at back of church.
