Communication Committee Meeting Minutes,August 18, 2014, 7 PM
Unapproved
Those in attendance were Jill Heink (minutes, articles), Jenny Poole (newsletter), Pat Johnson (library), Joe Groves (web), Ron Wedding (Chair)
The meeting opened at 7:15 PM with prayer.
There were no corrections to the minutes from May 2014.
Update: Laura Soldato is transitioning from her position as Parish Life Chairman to heading up MQ School’s Development activities.
Website/Social Media – Joe reported that John Mitchell is working on the parish history for the website. Jim Fritz has finished going over the Time and Talent ministries. He is also fixing a site map that will help people find things on the web site more easily. Joe feels that the material from the former web site is now migrated over, so that the web committee can concentrate on new features.
Jill, Kellie, and Jennifer Longworth are administrators for the Facebook page. About 225 people have “liked” the page, with a few joining each week. People continue to be very well behaved, with no nasty comments.
CD Rack – Walter Leachman sent an e-mail with the start up costs for the CD Rack. Ron and Jill did not have the e-mail with them, but the start up costs probably won’t be made up. [Note: Here are the figures from Walter’s e-mail: In fiscal year 2012-2013, expenses were $1,088 and money collected was $465, so the start up cost could be considered to be about $623. In FY 2013-14, up to April 14, expenses were $816 and money collected was $856, so there was a slight profit of $40].
Info Center/Bulletin Board - Everything is current on the Bulletin Board. The Info Center appears to be neat and tidy. Parish registration forms are in big envelope attached to the bulletin board. Jill added 50 English and 50 Spanish brochures about Living the Beatitudes that she had received from Our Sunday Visitor. Jenny talked to someone from the school about keeping a stock of school information/registration forms on the counter.
Outdoor Sign – has been kept current. Ron has not followed up with Gabbard sign as of yet about coming out to check on the sign. Ron thinks the sign will need to be reset in concrete.
Library – going well. Pat called people who had signed up for library on Time and Talent, and out of several, one person said she was still willing to volunteer. Pat told the new volunteer that she could bring her children (who are school-aged) for the inventory process and the kids were also very helpful. Pat now has a total of 4 volunteers. They have finished inventory and have called folks with overdues. Pat has run out of Spanish language Care Notes and has ordered 3 sets of 10 in Spanish.
Suggestion Box –.one suggestion requested that the tabernacle be placed back on the altar. The other note was a positive comment. There were also some items obviously written by children.
Newsletter –Jenny gave out the deadlines for the upcoming newsletter year. The first deadline is Sept. 12 for the Sept. 27-28 publication date.
LED Screen and A/V –Going well.
Bulletin – No report. The committee did look at some bulletins that committee members brought back from visits to TX and AR. General consensus is that the color has added a nice touch to the bulletin; we have heard other favorable comments. The bulletin deadline seems to be working out OK.
