General Job Description

Pastoral care work in an impoverished rural county in the Appalachian region of eastern Kentucky. The ministry is primarily to be the Catholic presence in this county but extends to the entire Owsley County population. Evangelization and outreach are the essential components.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

 Faith formation

 Outreach to all the Owsley County population

 Fiscal responsibility including fundraising

 Oversee maintenance

 Partnering with the Owsley County Ministerial Association to oversee the

Outreach Center, Willie’s Copper Top, which includes a Soup Kitchen and a

Thrift Shop

Minor Duties and Responsibilities:

 Plan liturgies including providing a musician

 Oversee volunteer groups

 Maintain communication with sister parishes

 Maintain database for volunteers and donors

 Participate in local organizations as able

 Visit the sick and the elderly

Qualifications for the Job:

Education:

Masters in Pastoral studies and /or Theology

Experience :

Experience in pastoral care is preferred but not necessary

 Computer skills

 Leadership skills

 Fund-raising ability

 Driver’s License

 Self-motivating person
