Members present: John Mitchell, Jim Fritz, Tony Kernan, Edward Shuman, Otto Piechowski, and Joseph Groves
No meeting was held in December 2014.
John started the meeting by leading the group in prayer. Otto read the Gospel and then the group broke up into two groups to discuss the reading.
John updated the group on the survey available on the website to get feedback from those who use the website and those who have suggestions for our website. Edward made the suggestion that everyone in the group fill out the survey. Right now John has it on the website for testing. It is a Google form which will currently go to Kelly.
Group discussed our committee's goals. John read the current goals of the group out loud and asked if anyone had any suggestions. John tried to make the goals very general. Otto suggested discussion on how the Hispanic group and those fallen away from the Catholic church fit into our goals. Group had good discussion on both topics and what we have been doing in the past. Group concluded that the 3 goals are broad enough and sufficient.
Discussion transitioned to evangelization, the importance of evangelization, and how to evangelize without using the word evangelization. We had some healthy discussion on the topic about what we thought were possibilities for the future.
We had discussion on tracking Hispanic traffic on the website, but we currently don't have a solution. We would like to track the number of users who hit the translate button on the website. This also brought up the discussion of having a poll on the website and possibly something we should look into.
We had discussion on the changes Jim thinks could be made to the website to help it. One of the discussions was having a homily as a podcast.
Then we had discussion on the electronic giving link placement and removing the donate button. We talked about trying to make the electronic giving more noticeable for the users.
Tony suggested looking at the home page we should add the daily Mass schedule. Edward suggested we also add the confession schedule to the home page as well. John added the daily Mass to the home page and held off on confessions, because of space and misguiding the users that confession was everyday instead of just Saturday.
Tony suggested adding the Wednesday children’s Mass homily to our homilies page. Feeling from the group was that we should add as many homilies as we can. Tony agreed to do the homily on the 18th.
