Holy Week 2018
This is the most sacred week of the entire year for Christians. Whether at home or away, we should mark it as "sacred" by celebrating the most solemn events in the life of Christ--His Passion, Death, and Resurrection. This is the one-week of the year when we walk with Christ through tragedy to triumph, through death to new life. Come join us in this walk through these solemn days.
Passion/Palm Sunday-March 25, 2018: The Solemn blessing of palms takes place outside before 9.30 am Mass (St. William) and 11.30 am Mass (St. Sylvester). Palms blessed at other Masses in Church. Solemn blessing inside at 4.30 pm Mass (St. William)
Holy Thursday-March 29, 2018:
No morning Mass today.
Mass of the Lord's Supper at 6.00 pm (Ottenhiem) and 7.30 pm (St. William) Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the Church follows Mass until midnight.
As Christ washed the feet of His disciples at the Last Supper, we wash the feet of twelve parishioners on this holy night. We also remember the poor and needy among us. Every family is encouraged to have a representative at the Liturgy and bring an item of food for Local food Pantry. Rice Bowls will also be collected at this Liturgy. At the end of this Liturgy, we will process with the Blessed Sacrament through the Church from the Altar of Sacrifice to the Altar of Repose. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament follows Mass until midnight in the Church. We invite all parishioners to spend some time in adoration this evening.
Good Friday-March 30, 2018:
The Paschal Fast is observed today.
No Mass today.
Stations of the Cross at 6.30 pm (Ottehiem).
Liturgy of the Lord's Passions at 7.00 pm.
Stations of the Cross from 4:30 pm (St. William).
Liturgy of the Lord's Passios at 5.00 Pm
This is our main Liturgical celebration. We should not absent ourselves lightly from this beautiful Liturgy. Invite your friends and neighbors from the community to the Stations of the Cross this Good Friday. The collection this evening is for the upkeep of the Holy Places in the Holy Land.
Holy Saturday-April 4, 2015:
The Paschal Fast is observed till the Easter Vigil.
No morning Mass today.
Confessions 7.15: - 7:45 pm.
Easter Vigil 8:00 pm (St. William)
This is the most important and most beautiful Liturgy of the whole year. In the past, Christians would not dream of missing it. The Easter vigil, during the holy night when Christ rose from the dead, ranks as the “mother of all vigils.” Keeping watch, the church awaits Christ’s resurrection and celebrated it in the sacraments. Accordingly, the entire celebration of this vigil should take place at night, that is, it should either begin after nightfall or end before
the dawn of Sunday.
Easter Sunday Masses-April 5, 2015:
9.30 am Mass (St. William)
11.30 am Mass (St. Sylvester).
6.00 pm Mass (Spanish) St. William
Paschal Fast: From Good Friday till Easter Vigil the Paschal Fast is observed to honor the suffering and death of the Lord Jesus and to prepare ourselves to share more deeply in His resurrection. Have a grace-filled and blessed week.
God bless you,
Fr. Peter Joseph
