Communion, or Eucharist as it is also known, is about gathering at the Lord’s table where all are welcome to celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus. We gather with the community to be renewed in our faith, challenged and encouraged by the Word, and nourished and strengthened by the body and blood of Christ.
We are honored to invite our children to prepare for their First Eucharist/Communion as a Sacrament of Initiation. There are few moments in life that are remembered so tenderly as the First Eucharist.
Children entering the second grade may begin the preparation process in the fall of each year for both the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion. The children are required to attend Sunday morning faith formation classes and a Sunday afternoon mini-retreat with their parents in the spring. Regular mass attendance by the child and his/her family is expected. First Reconciliations are celebrated in December and First Communions are celebrated in May.
For further details, please contact our Pastoral Associate, Pam Berger, at (859) 381-0674. Registrations begin in August and continue through the first weekend of September. Classes generally begin on the second Sunday of September.
