A. Fr. Dan --A task force of 5-6 people will be focused on evangelization to distill the information found in the book Rebuilt. They will propose a plan to impact liturgy, the environment, areas such as the gathering area (as offering coffee, check-in for new people for questions,) and more.
To be completed by May 1st for review by committees.
B. Karen Rood has provided a short program on rebuilt to St. Peters. Liturgy committee members agreed that such a program would be worthwhile for this committee, possibly joint in-service with parish council. Fr. Dan acknowledged it would better prepare committee to give input to the task force. Bill will discuss with Karen and send out possible dates for consideration.
Continuing Education:
We, with Fr. Dan, are responsible for fostering good worship at Mary Queen by:
? Establishing short and long range goals for the liturgical life of MQ based on Church documents
? Planning and preparing Eucharistic liturgies and other celebrations
? Establishing parish policies concerning various rites and liturgical questions
? Scheduling and training liturgical ministers
? Providing ongoing liturgical formation of committee members and parishioners in
order to promote full, conscious and active participation of the faithful
? Evaluating on a regulate basis all of the above
Old Business:
? Worship committee objectives for 2014 in light of the above responsibilities, to be reviewed.
? Review of Candle Mass -- Members acknowledged all masses went well. 850 candles. Next
opportunity will be 2020. Committee recommended that same format be used.
? Lent/Easter January 30 Subcommittee Minutes ---
Kristy and Karen will be putting articles in a new “liturgy corner” in bulletin; to begin the end of February.
Bill will provide the information from the Lent/Easter committee to Fr. Dan, to expand and he will send to Jane for the bulletin.
Stations of the Cross---group recommended publicizing more; last year had cards on tables at fish fry’s. Plan to have cantors at all Friday stations.
Fridays of Lent – 2:30 pm Mass, followed by stations of cross, lead by youth. Hope is that school children will come for the stations, with parents. Karen will play at 7pm stations. Fr. Dan asked for recommendations on how to get more people to attend stations.
The palms that parishioners bring are burned with kids helping, with some used; mixed in with ashes that have been ordered.
It was agreed that the chapel could be decorated on Wednesday night prior to Holy Thurs.
Holy Thursday -- Two Processions --- 5:30 pm English mass, procession, repose. 7:15pm
Spanish mass; Procession and repose after Spanish services. Strip altar after Spanish mass.
? Change in flow of gathering gifts and bringing forward –
1 Those designated to bring bread and wine to priest at altar must be at back of church during the universal prayer (if they are not on time the ushers step in)
2 Servers will begin Altar preparation when priest goes to receive bread and wine. AFTER ALTAR is set, servers can go to assist priest.
3 Priest receives bread/wine at base of altar.
4 Ushers begin collection afterward
5 When everyone stands, ushers will discretely bring gifts forward, place in front of ambo.(Bill
to contact Sue and Tom to discuss)
6 To begin March 1st
? Deacon Monthly Blessing by Deacons to continue
BUDGET -- Bill distributed an excel sheet to those members required to have input. Due by Feb. 26
Karen informed committee that the piano in the music room could no longer be tuned, a replacement was needed. Fr. Dan recommended that with the many upcoming changes an interim solution might be to use the church for practice - other temporary solutions to be sought.
