SUMMARY:St. Fidelis of Sigmaringen
DESCRIPTION:St. Fidelis of Sigmaringen was born in 1577 in Sigmaringen and initially trained as a lawyer\, gaining a reputation for intelligence and integrity. Despite a promising secular career\, he felt called to serve God and entered the Capuchin Franciscan Order\, embracing a life of prayer\, simplicity\, and missionary zeal. Fidelis became a fearless preacher\, traveling across regions of present-day Switzerland and Germany\, teaching the Catholic faith\, ministering to the sick and poor\, and confronting the spread of Protestantism with charity and clarity. \nHis steadfastness in defending the truth of the faith brought him into conflict with hostile communities. In 1622\, while traveling to preach in the Grisons region\, he was attacked by a mob and martyred\, remaining courageous to the end. St. Fidelis of Sigmaringen is remembered for his unwavering commitment to the Gospel\, his fearless evangelization\, and his example of selfless love even in the face of death. On his feast day\, April 24\, the Church honors his courage\, devotion\, and ultimate sacrifice in witness to Christ.

SUMMARY:St. Mark Evangelist
DESCRIPTION:St. Mark the Evangelist\, also known as John Mark\, was a disciple of St. Peter and a companion of St. Paul\, living in the first century. He is traditionally credited with writing the Gospel of Mark\, the second book of the New Testament\, which presents the life\, teachings\, miracles\, Passion\, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Mark is believed to have been born in Jerusalem\, and his home may have served as a meeting place for the early Christian community. Through his writings\, he preserved the eyewitness testimony of Peter and conveyed the message of Christ’s salvation with clarity\, urgency\, and devotion. \nAfter evangelizing in Jerusalem\, Mark traveled to Egypt\, where he founded the Church in Alexandria\, becoming its first bishop and establishing a strong Christian presence in the region. Tradition holds that he suffered persecution for his faith and died a martyr\, remaining steadfast in his commitment to Christ. On his feast day\, April 25\, the Church honors St. Mark for his faithful witness\, his contributions to the spread of the Gospel\, and his example as a dedicated disciple who faithfully shared the life and teachings of Jesus with the world.
