SUMMARY:Saint Romuald\, Abbot
DESCRIPTION:Saint Romuald was born around 951 in Ravenna\, Italy\, into a noble family during a time when political violence and church reform movements shaped northern Italy. After witnessing a violent duel involving his father\, he entered the Benedictine monastery of Sant’Apollinare in Classe. He later sought a stricter life of solitude and penance\, moving among hermitages and monasteries as a reformer. \nRomuald founded the Camaldolese tradition at Camaldoli in Tuscany around the early 11th century\, blending Benedictine community life with eremitical solitude. He died around 1027\, leaving a legacy of silence\, asceticism\, and interior freedom. His feast reminds the modern Church that reform is not only institutional; it begins in the heart\, in prayer\, repentance\, and stillness before God. \nPrayer: Saint Romuald\, pray that we may seek God in silence and serve him with undivided hearts. Amen.
