St. Peter Claver is a parish of 250 families and growing. Our outreach includes making sandwiches for the HOPE Center, Clothing Center, AA meetings, Florence Crittenden Home, French Speaking and Korean Masses and many spiritual renewal programs, such as revivals. We are a vibrant community that will not turn away from the needs of our area. We shall remain a constant source of hope and outreach. We will remain on a street that has good people and now many great restaurants, not to mention Transylvania University and Bluegrass Technical College who are our neighbors. We plan to continue to be a Spiritual Lighthouse for all!!!
With a need to expand, renovate and rebuild, our Capital Campaign has taken us over 6 years to raise over 1 million dollars. We now have two Capital Campaigns; one is a 5- year- Campaign with 3 years remaining. In December, 2012, we started a 2- year- Campaign for those that have not participated. Our goal to finance this building project is through many fundraisers and pledges. Our 2012 gala’s net was $74,000. Donations can be sent to St. Peter Claver Building Fund, 410 Jefferson Street, Lexington, KY 40508.
The first phase consists of a parish life and educational center (which housed the original Church), the cost is $3.1 million and phase II consist of building a new Church and the cost is 2.3 million. Both the Parish Life & Educational Center and new Sanctuary/Church shall remain on the Corner of 4th and Jefferson streets. The total cost of the project is 5.3 million dollars. With formal contracting through Pearson and Peters Architects, Hawkins Construction and the approval of Bishop Ronald Gainer, we are ready to start. Our ground breaking occurred on December 16, 2012.
