Unfinished Business and Updates
Continuing Business MQHR Goals and Objectives
Fr. Dan, Andrew Moore, and Lee McGrath were able to conclude our results from the Goals and Objectives listed from 2012-2015 (as seen in column III on first attachment) . These results will be added to our Mission Statement insert in the bulletin to help educate the Mary Queen parish on achievements from the Goals and Objectives from previous years (2012-2015). The Council would like to get Fr. Dan and Fr. Miguel’s approval on a new 2015-2018 Mission Statement summary (as seen in the bullet points in the new Mission Statement insert attachment) that will be distributed in the bulletin insert. Mission Statement
We worked on finalizing the Mission Statement bulletin insert. We discussed the results of our Goals and Objectives. These results from 2012-2015 will explain our success with bullet points listed in the bulletin insert. We also discussed target dates for the distribution of the Mission Statement, possibly June 1 and to continue bulletin insert for a few weeks thereafter. Mission Statement dates were also brought up to determine starting dates for the Focus Group discussions possibly beginning in June 2015 and the entire process to be completed by November 2015, with plans to be ready for the fiscal year. We also discussed needing to speak with Fr. Dan about a church email to be added on the insert. Should this be Kellie Pedroche or a general church email that parishioners could contact if interested in helping to set new goals. Andrew Moore Suggested we add each of the Parish Council Member (s) with relevant contact information in the event parishioners were more comfortable with a specific contact instead of a general church email address. Andrew Moore also volunteered to reach out to a personal contact to help translate the new Mission Statement from English to Spanish. Carol L. also pointed out a few grammatical errors emphasizing the need to capitalize the Parish Pastoral Council throughout the statement.
Focus Groups
We discussed our guidelines for a successful response from parishioners to contact us in order to be a part of the Focus Groups. Then we also discussed alternative action(s) if too few responses from parishioners are received. Discussion of those the Council would reach out to in order to form Focus Group leaders included past PPC members and / or Ministry leaders. Erich M. also is waiting for approval for Focus Group discussion questions as:
What are the parts of the parish that you are most impressed with?
What areas of our parish need improvement and how can we improve these areas?
What would Mary Queen parish be and do if we had no constraints like our current debt?
A fourth question was suggested, simply as: What is on your mind about Mary Queen? We discussed having a total of four Focus group meetings in the month of June, 2 Spanish and 2 English speaking groups. We also discussed the possibility of a meeting (English and Spanish) held during the week in the evening and the other Focus group session (English and Spanish) being held after a mass on Sunday.
Next PPC Meeting
The next meeting is scheduled for May 26, 2015 at 7pm at Mary Queen in the ELC building.
Closing prayer and adjournment
Erich M. led us in a closing prayer and the meeting was adjourned at 7:10 pm.
