MQHR Parish Pastoral Council Minutes July 16, 2013 (unapproved) PPC Members in attendance Fr. Dan Noll, Steve McCauley, Brian Carlson, Phil Heink, Karen Morgison, Vincente Munoz, Cora Mudd, John Mitchell, Norma Flores, Carol Lee, and Ginger Fraser. Absent: Deacon Bill Rood, Walter Leachman, Omar Mendoza, Kevin Lamping, Jesus Romero and Mary Grace Allen.
The meeting started at about 7:05 pm with an opening prayer led by Fr. Dan. Members attended Mass together prior to the meeting. Rebuilt Discussion
Each member in attendance gave a brief response to the following questions based on their review of the book Rebuilt:
1) Do you agree or disagree with the basic ideas of the book insofar as they might apply to Mary Queen? Why or why not?
2) What in the book excited you? What disturbed/concerned you?
Karen Morginson read Kevin Lamping’s written response since he was unable to attend the meeting. John Mitchell passed out a summary he prepared with 19 questions and referenced to pages in Rebuilt. Since Vincente had not been able to obtain a Spanish copy of the book, he answered those questions as his response.
After the individual reports, the floor was opened to further discussion. Additional feedback occurred. Consensus was reached that the Council recommends pursuing a culture change at Mary Queen. Fr. Dan will obtain input from the Parish staff and Deacons at a future meeting.
It was agreed that we need input from the Spanish community. Norma will validate that they have a Spanish copy of the book. Vincente, Jesus and Omar will read the book and bring their feedback to our next Parish Council meeting. Announcements and Updates
Real Life Radio members had approached Fr. Dan with the idea of working with MQ to start a ministry greeting parishioners in the parking lot and to also set up an information table to provide parish information and answer questions for one Mass a week. After brief discussion, the council reached consensus and recommended that we give it a try.
Fr. Dan also asked us to continue supporting the Task Force for Development through prayer. Their hard work and dedication is greatly appreciated.
