What does the daily life of a priest look like? As the Venerable Fulton J. Sheen famously said, “The priest is not his own.” Through the Sacrament of Holy Orders, a priest is configured to Christ the Head. In imitation of Christ, a priest dedicates his life to serving God’s people. This is accomplished through prayer, teaching, and shepherding. The specifics of a priest’s daily life may vary depending on his assignment, but it is consistently characterized by service, self-sacrifice, and the administration of sacraments. The Eucharist stands as the source and summit of a priest’s existence.
